Roads - markings and signage - road signs: Outline
Road signs, lines and markings are used in the interests of traffic flow and road safety, by warning, providing information or indicating the presence of a regulation i.e. a one way street. They convey various messages to highway users, who can include motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and others.
Any request for changes to signing, lining or road markings should be made in writing to the Parking, Highways and Transport Team.
HGV Management and Signage
Heavy Goods Vehicle prohibitions are used within the Borough to avoid unnecessary use of a road by vehicles that exceed the signed weight. It is useful to note that orders of this type do not exclude buses or coaches from the route, nor do they prevent HGV's requiring access e.g. for delivery.
Heavy Goods Vehicle prohibitions are the enforcement responsibility of the Police.
