Planning - Development Control: Outline
The Development Control Group is responsible for:
- Providing advice on planning matters to the public and developers.
- Processing, assessing and determining all types of planning applications.
- Investigating unauthorised developments and untidy sites.
Development Control is divided into the following teams:
- Planning Registration Team
- Borough Wide Planning Team
- Town Centre and Seafront Planning Team
- Planning Enforcement and Appeals Team
Access to Planning Applications
The Planning Applications that are received by Development Control each can be viewed on the Council's website. The applications themselves can be viewed by the public at the Council's Customer Contact Centre on the ground floor of the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend, on weekdays between 8:45am and 5:15pm.
Planning Applications in Leigh-on-sea
Planning Applications within the area of Leigh Town Council can be inspected at the offices of Leigh Town Council at 67 Elm Road Leigh-on-Sea.
The Town Council's offices are open to view plans at the following times: Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm, or at other times by prior arrangement. Amendments to submitted applications are not available at the Town Council's Offices.
Commenting on a Planning Application
All comments should be made within three weeks of the application being registered and clearly show the Application Number. Representations made after this date will still be taken into account. If they are received before the application is determined.
