Council services
Social services - direct payments: Outline
Direct payments are available to people that need support to live independently, safely and healthily. They are an alternative way to receive social care services. Instead of the council arranging services for you, you receive a payment that can be used to arrange support in a way that suits you.
If you make a referral for a social care service, you will be offered the choice of direct payments at your assessment. There are some exceptions; for example direct payments can't be used for residential care or for certain mental health services.
