Economic Development and Regeneration: Outline
Economic Regeneration
The Council has a busy and effective Economic Regeneration team located in the Civic Centre. The team manages and co-ordinates projects funded through UK and EU grants, to build the capacity of the local community and improve quality of life. The team is also responsible for bringing new business opportunities to the area and for working with local businesses to improve the economic base of Southend-on-Sea.
Regeneration is a priority for Southend to enable the Borough to look to the future and make Southend a more prosperous place to live, work and visit.
Economic Development
The Council can assist businesses with the process of identifying a suitable commercial property and signpost to the business support services available both within the Council and externally. We can also provide a range of statistics on population figures, unemployment levels, wage rates, details of vacant commercial properties and current rental levels.
The unit also supports the Southend Business & Tourism Partnership and its Executive Board.
