Roads - street parking - enforcement: Outline
Southend Borough Council is responsible for enforcing parking, loading and waiting restrictions in the borough. We aim to encourage sensible and safe parking within the town. This in turn will lead to reduced congestion and improved safety for drivers and pedestrians. It will also allow buses and service vehicles to operate more effectively, improve the general environment and enable the council to control and manage parking as part of its integrated transport strategy.
Why is it necessary to control parking with Southend?
To encourage sensible and safe parking
-
To reduce congestion on our roads
-
To make it safer for drivers and pedestrians
-
To increase Blue Badge benefits, as the increased enforcement of existing parking spaces for disabled drivers will improve availability for Blue Badge holders
-
To allow buses and service vehicles to operate more effectively
-
To improve the general environment
-
To use control and management of parking as part of the council's integrated transport strategy
A team of parking attendants patrol and enforce the on-street parking regulations and the Pay & Display car parks.
