Audio Described Videos and DVDs
Southend Central Library has a range of audio described videos and DVDs which enable people with sight problems to enjoy films to the full.
Audio description provides an additional narration around the soundtrack of the film, using pauses in the dialogue to fill in the details about facial expressions, body language, actions, scenery and costumes.
You can visit the library catalogue to view the full range of audio described videos and DVDs.
The Royal National Institute of the Blind can provide a free list of titles on request. Contact RNIB Customer Services on 0845 702 3153.
Braille Services
Southend Central Library currently offers a service, whereby printed information, leaflets or short articles can be transcribed into Grade 1 and Grade 2 braille.
We accept braille work as either printed documents, word-processed files on floppy disk, or electronically via e-mail with attachments etc.
Please contact us for further information.
