Pollution control - light pollution: Outline
Nuisance from artificial light
Not all levels of artificial light are necessarily statutory nuisances and so the Council may not be able to resolve all the complaints that it receives.
Dealing with nuisance lighting
We always recommend that before contacting our Environmental Health Service, you speak to the person causing the nuisance to you. We do appreciate that this can sometimes be difficult for a number of reasons and, in any case, should never be considered if there is any risk of violence or other repercussions to you. However, if you can speak with your neighbour, this may resolve the problem without the legal intervention of the Council.
