Disabled People: Outline

Disability Registration

Adults with a severe physical impairment can apply to be registered as disabled. To register, call 01702 215008.

Disability (learning) - services for adults

We support people with learning disabilities to be as independent as possible, and to get involved with their local community as far as they are able to.

We can help people to get into work or education, take part in leisure activities, and find a suitable place to live.  We also provide services for people with complex disabilities, who have significant care needs.

We support carers too: for example by offering respite services, to give carers a chance to take a break.

Disability (physical & sensory) - services for adults

We promote inclusion and independent living by creating and delivering services that help people to take control of their own lives as far as possible.

We work according to the Social Model of Disability which says that it is society that disables people by putting up barriers. These barriers can affect employment, housing, leisure, transport, education and so on. In fact everything that people without impairments take for granted and consider to be a basic human right.
