Southend Pier - Opening Times and Admissions: Outline

Please note, the current revised closing times for the VIC.
Dates Times
 10th and 11th September, Saturday and sunday  6pm, admissions close at 5pm
 17th and 18th September, Saturday and Sunday  6pm, admissions close at 5pm

Southend Pier is the town's historical icon as well as being the longest pleasure pier in the world, with its glorious 1.33 miles literally putting Southend on the map as well as into the record books.

Monday - Friday  08:15 - 18:00 (last admission is 17:00) 08:15 - 20:00 (last admission is 19:00)  08:15 - 18:00 (last admission is 17:00)  09:15 - 17:00 (last admission is 16:00) 
Saturday & Sunday 08:15 - 20:00 (last admission is 19:00)  08:15 - 20:00 (last admission is 19:00)  08:15 - 20:00 (last admission is 19:00)  09:15 - 17:00 (last admission is 16:00)

Admission (2011/2012)

  • Pier Train: Adult £3.60; Child/OAP £1.80; Family £9.30; Advantage Card discount Cat A&B 10% and Cat C&D 50%.
  • Pier Walk & Ride: Adult £3.10; Child/OAP £1.80; Family £8.00; Advantage Card discount Cat A&B 10% and Cat C&D 50%.
  • Pier Fishing: Adult £4.60; Child/OAP £3.50 
  • Winter Walk: Adult/Child/OAP £1.00 (1st October until 31st March) 

Adopt a Plank

The fund-raising scheme was introduced to raise money for projects on the Pier that otherwise would not be achievable through usual sources.

Each sponsor will receive a certificate stating their adoption details, and their name will be placed on the Roll of Honour Board in the North Station on Southend Pier.

Fishing Passes

Southend-on-Sea Fishing Passes are available to anyone and offer the opportunity for fisherman to pursue their sport at any time of the day or night with the appropriate card, on Southend Pier.
