Southend boasts many fine leisure facilities, including football and rugby pitches, cricket squares, bowling greens, croquet lawns, netball and basketball hoops and tennis courts.

Leisure Centres and Swimming Pools

Our Leisure Centres are run for us by Parkwood Community Leisure.

Wet Wednesdays

Over 65-year-olds are being invited to swim free on Wednesdays at pools in Southend from Wednesday 4th April.

This offer will be available at any public swimming session initially at Southend Swimming and Diving Centreand at Belfairs Swim Centre.

Later it will also be on offer at Shoeburyness Leisure Centre once refurbishment works have been completed there.

Public Bowls Facilities

There are public bowls facilities in several of the town's parks:

  • Priory Park
  • Belfairs Park
  • Eastwood Park
  • Cavendish Gardens
  • Southchurch Park
  • Shoebury Park
  • Chalkwell Esplanade
  • Alexandra Park

The season for bowls runs from the last Saturday in April to the last Sunday in September. To join a bowling club pop down to one of the parks above, someone will be there to help you.
