Benefits - Housing & Council Tax: Outline
Housing Benefit and Council Tax is a welfare benefit designed to provide financial help for people on low incomes to pay their rent and/or Council Tax. It is administered by the Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit department as part of Support Services.
It is "means tested" which means the level of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit awarded is dependant on the amount of income you have coming into the house and the amount of savings that you have.
