Land and property - building control: Outline
Building Regulations
Building Regulations are necessary so that the minimum standards of design and construction for new buildings, alterations and extensions are met in order to:
- Safeguard the health and safety of persons in and around the building.
- To conserve energy through insulation and control usage.
- To provide access and facilities for disabled persons.
Building Control
The main purpose of Building Control is to ensure that all building work complies with the Building Regulations and other allied legislation. This is done by checking plans of proposed work and also by inspecting the work on site.
