Community strategy: Outline
What is a local strategic partnership and who is Southend Together?
Local Strategic Partnerships, or LSPs, were introduced to improve the way services are run. Their ultimate aim is to improve the quality of life for local people.
For LSPs to work ALL sectors of the community - public, private and voluntary organisations - need to get together and work in partnership!
In Southend a strategic partnership was set up in 2002 to ensure that this happens and it is called 'Southend Together'. Membership of the Board comprises a range of public, private and voluntary organisations such as South Essex Chamber of Commerce, Essex, Southend Association of Voluntary Services (SAVS), South East Essex College, Southend Police, Southend Primary Care Trust, COBRA, Ethnic Minority Forum and Southend Tenants and Residents.
What is a Community Plan?
A Community Plan sets out the vision for Southend and how the partners of Southend Together will improve the quality of life of people living in the Borough. The plan sets out specific objectives and actions that need completing by the partnership over the next ten years.
Southend Together is responsible for ensuring that progress on meeting the objectives and the completion of targets are reported back to the Community on annual basis and that the priorities and vision for Southend is still relevant.
