Summer Reading Challenge

Join in the UK’s biggest reading event for children in libraries.

Record Breakers is the Summer Reading Challenge 2015 and this year we’ve teamed up with Guinness World Records™ to celebrate some awesome achievements from all over the world. Taking part is easy and it’s totally FREE. Children aged 4 years+ just read 6 or more books from their library during the summer holiday from 18 July to 29th August.

It’s great fun and children return to school after the summer break as more fluent, confident and happy readers.

How it Works

  • Choose your books from any part of the Children’s Library
  • On your next visit talk to us about one of the books you have read
  • If you like, write a review of one other book or draw a picture
  • Collect colourful stickers for each book and stick them on your Record
  • Breakers poster. Watch out, some are rather smelly!
  • Collect special rewards for reading each book (up to six books)
  • Look online for recommended books to read, take part in competitions or play games www.recordbreakers.org.uk
  • Most importantly, have fun – enjoy your holiday reading!
