BIBA - Exhibition
28th May 2016 - 14th January 2017 - Every day at 10:00 - 17:00
The event will be held in Various, and is Free to attend.
This wide-ranging exhibition tells the story of how BIBA began as a mail order outlet but exploded in popularity, expanding into home wares, cosmetics, and even food.
Retro trends will be sweeping through Southend Central Museum and the Beecroft Art Gallery to celebrate the iconic 1960s/1970s fashion brand, BIBA.
The neighbouring venues in Victoria Avenue, Southend, are jointly hosting a clothing and lifestyle exhibition of items from Saturday 28th May until Saturday 14th January next year.
BIBA and everything associated with it became a lifestyle aspiration for nearly all teenagers and young adults during the 1960s and 70s. The Topshop of its day, BIBA was the brainchild of Barbara Hulanicki a fashion illustrator. Her business, which changed the face of high street fashion, lifestyle wares and shopping forever, stemmed from her aim to create affordable fashion for all.
