Q: Listed Buildings: What is Listed Building Consent? When is it needed?

Answer:
Listed Building Consent is similar to planning permission but it has more scope for controlling works to listed buildings. Listed Building Consent is required to demolish, alter or extend a listed building. (This type of work will probably also require Planning Permission) Repairs and internal alterations will also need consent if they alter the building's character. (This type of work does not normally require Planning Permission). There is no fee for Listed Building Consent.
