Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives the public extensive access rights to all types of information held by the Council.

From 28 February 2003 the Council was required to have a Publication Scheme which contains a structured list of information to which the public can have access. With effect from January 2009 the Council adopted the model Publication Scheme produced by the Information Commissioners Office.

A copy of the Council's Publication Scheme can be found by clicking here.

The List of Documents available under the Publication Scheme can be accessed by clicking here.

In addition, from January 2005 the public has a new general right of access to Council information ( with some exemptions ), when that information is not available under the Publication Scheme.

Details about this general right of access can be found on the Information Commissioner's Office website or on the Department for Constitutional Affairs website.

Details of how the Council will handle requests for information, and any applicable charges, can be found by clicking here
