The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives the public extensive access rights to all types of information held by the Council.
From 28 February 2003 the Council was required to have a Publication Scheme which contains a structured list of information to which the public can have access. It must also explain how information can be obtained and how much it will cost.
The independent Information Commissioner has approved the Council's Publication Scheme, a copy of which can be found by clicking here.
The List of Documents available under the Publication Scheme can be accessed by clicking here.
In addition, from January 2005 the public has a new general right of access to Council information ( with some exemptions ), when that information is not available under the Publication Scheme.
Details about this general right of access can be found on the Information Commissioner's Office website or on the Department for Constitutional Affairs website.
