Council Housing
How much Social Housing is there in Southend?
The following information is intended to demonstrate the limited availability of social housing in Southend-on-Sea. By providing members of public with this information we hope that it will assist them with making realistic choices about their housing options. This bulletin will be produced every 3 months and will be available on the council's website and also in the 'On The Move' area of the Customer Service Centre at Southend-on-Sea Borough Council

What are my chances?
The table below shows the amount of general needs properties going to applicants in each band between 01/10/2012 and 31/12/2012.

Only 2 general needs (ie non-sheltered) property were let to applicants in Band D during this period, which were all via a 'direct let'. No Band D applicants were successful in obtaining a general needs property through the normal bidding route. For sheltered accommodation, 8 properties were let to applicants in Band D during this time period. If you are in band D and do not qualify for sheltered housing you may wish to look at the advice about alternative housing options on the last page of this bulletin. This graph shows it is very unlikely that Band D applicants will place a successful bid for a general needs property.
How much property has been let?
Below you will see the amount of properties within the specific areas of the borough, listed by bedroom size, that have been let through 'On The Move' between October and December. It includes figures for South Essex Homes and Housing Association Properties.
