Southend-on-Sea Borough Libraries to offer free online citizenship tests for new brits
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council residents who are practicing for the Life in the UK or British citizenship test can now take free practice tests online through their local library.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Libraries has just added GoCitizen.co.uk to its growing list of internet services available freely to borrowers. This service provides a highly realistic online simulation of the Life in the UK Test.
GoCitizen.co.uk includes an online version of the latest official study materials licensed from the Home Office, the people who write the handbook, plus hundreds of practice test questions in the same format as the official test.
Access to GoCitizen.co.uk is free for borrowers who call in to any Southend on Sea Borough Libraries. Borrowers can also access GoCitizen.co.uk from outside of the library using their library card.
Tim Harding, Technical Director of Well Informed Limited, which developed GoCitizen.co.uk, is thrilled to be partnering with Southend on Sea Borough Library and said that the service was truly a comprehensive package.
"GoCitizen.co.uk has all the latest official study materials licensed from the Home Office" Harding said. "Plus, by licensing learning games and practice test content from Red Squirrel Publishing-a 3 year leader in the field of helping people pass the citizenship test-libraries can offer a service with a proven track record."
Borrowers can sign up to take practice Life in the UK Tests by visiting the GoCitizen.co.uk website http://southend.gocitizen.co.uk.
Southend on Sea Borough Council residents without a library membership can obtain one easily by visiting their local library.
Passing the Home Office's Life in the UK Test is a requirement for anyone wanting to apply for citizenship or settle permanently in the UK. Over 437,000 applicants have taken the Home Office's test since it was introduced in November 2005. As of October 2007, one out of three people failed the test.
