The Milton Reading Group
A reading group especially for visually impaired people
The Milton Reading Group was a first for Southend library and was set up to cater specifically for visually impaired people and has been running at Southend Library since 2004.
The group meet once a month on a Wednesday afternoon from 2-3pm at Southend library in the large print area, tea and biscuits are provided and membership is free. The range of books read and listened to is varied and interesting and gives the group a basis for a good chat. The discussion about the books can be lively and the books listened to are often titles that an individual may not have considered before.
All the titles read by the group are offered in unabridged audio books on either cassette or CD, Play away, a pre-loaded digital audio book and large print. The aim is to cater for each individual member's reading needs in the format they prefer.
If you are interested in joining the group or would like more information please contact the Audience Development Team at Southend library, you can email us using the details on the right.
