Loft Conversions

When the Building Control Officer is satisfied with the work a Completion Certificate will be issued and it is advisable to obtain this certificate before making the final payment to the builder. The Certificate may also be required by an institution which has lent the money for the work to be carried out, or the purchasers solicitor when the property is offered for sale.

This Guidance is intended to advise householders of the applicable Building Regulations when considering the conversion of a loft space into rooms. It does not advise on specific construction details only the main issues involved.
