|Why not register today for MySouthend, our online facility designed to make your life easier. You can view your Non Domestic Rates bills, make payments, view your account details, payment dates and notifications as well as other online services.|
Business rates are calculated by multiplying the rateable value of the property (set by the Valuation Office Agency) by the business rates multiplier (set annually by the Central Government).
If you would like to find out the rateable value of a property please contact the Valuations Office Agency for details.
The current business rates multiplier for 2016/2017
- Standard: £0.497
- Small Business (occupied properties with a rateable value of £17,999 or less): £0.484
You can estimate your Business Rates bill by using the information on the gov.uk ‘Estimate your Business Rates’ page.
Appealing against the rateable value of a property
Contact the Valuation Office Agency on 03000 501 501 to get the forms for an appeal and to get advice on how to complete them. You can also visit their website to complete an online appeal form.
You must still pay your current business rates bill while an appeal is outstanding with the Valuation Office Agency. Changes to your bill will only be made once we have been contacted by the Valuation Office Agency.
The 1st April 2015 revaluation has been postponed by Central Government until 1st April 2017.
