MoveEasy in Southend

MoveEasy aims to help reduce traffic congestion and improve business efficiency by providing free advice and resources to local businesses about what their sustainable travel options are.
Businesses can achieve this by managing their travel needs through adopting a Travel Plan or a short Sustainable Action Plan. A Travel Plan is a simple management tool that consists of a marketed package of measures and incentives to encourage and make it easier for staff to use their cars less.

Benefits of a Travel Plan:

• Save Money:
  - The cost of car parking provision is reduced
  - Car sharing reduces costs of running a car
  - Access discounts on train and bus travel
• Promote Healthy Living:
  - Cyclists report that they feel more alert, awake and motivated  during the day and are recorded as taking fewer sick days
  - Fitness levels can be increased by incorporating walking and cycling into your lifestyle
• Be Green:
  - Improve the environmental credentials of a business by supporting sustainable modes of travel
  - Reduce carbon emissions associated with your site/business

The MoveEasy Network is free to join, and members are then eligible for the following free services, provided by the Council's MoveEasy Team:

• Advice on starting, operating and maintaining a Travel Plan
• A site visit to work out the travel requirements for your workplace
• Template travel surveys and analysis for Travel Surveys
• Support and assistance with Travel Plan marketing and special events
• Help with setting up initiatives such as car sharing etc
• Advice about the Cycle2Work Scheme (salary sacrifice scheme that enables employees to buy reduced price bikes)
• 10% discount on train and bus season tickets
• 10% discount in local cycle shops

MoveEasy members are also able to access the free promotions, events and resources available through Cycle Southend. These include: guided rides at lunchtimes, bike maintenance sessions, discounts at local bike shops and adult cycle training.

This project is funded by the Southend-on-Sea Local Transport Plan and Cycle Southend.
