Salary and Pension Scheme

We offer an extremely competitive salary including regular increases within the salary level. You will also qualify to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Annual Leave

As a new employee you will have a minimum of 23 days annual leave (excluding statutory bank holidays). This will increase by one day after each completed year you work for us (up to 28 days when you complete 5 years).

Flexible Working Hours

Our standard working week is 37 hours. However, you may vary your working hours to suit your personal circumstances and the needs of your department.

Job Sharing

We actively support job sharing as an alternative to full-time employment.

Family Friendly Policies

Many schemes are offered to allow our employees to fulfil their family commitments. This includes maternity leave, paternity leave and adoption leave. We also offer generous paid leave entitlements should you need to take time off for childcare, domestic crisis or care for a dependant.

Paid Sick Leave

We are keen to support employees who are genuinely unwell and not able to attend work. New employees to local government can receive up to one months paid sick leave, which gradually increases to 6 months half pay after five years.

Employee Schemes

Such as Childcare vouchers which allow working parents to receive up to £243 of their salary each month in childcare vouchers - this element of salary will not have tax and NI applied to it so in a year you could save up to £900. We also offer the Cycle2Work scheme which allows you to loan a bicycle for a much lower cost. The SalarySacrifice4Cars scheme is also offered to allow employees to drive a brand new, fully maintained and insured car for at a lower cost.

Employee Health Schemes

We work in partnership with three Health Providers who offer employees a range of health care options. We also have Occupational Health services to prevent ill-health and provide support to staff when they are ill.

Employee Assistance Programme

This programme enables employees to contact a confidential helpline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Relocation Expenses

If you need to relocate we offer a generous tax-free scheme that helps you get financial support for expenses relating to your relocation (subject to agreement).
