Using and applying for Dial-a-Ride
Who is Eligible for Dial a Ride?
You may qualify under one of the following criteria:
- Be in receipt of Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
- Be registered blind
- Be in receipt of Higher Rate Attendance Allowance (for women aged over 60 and men aged over 65)
- Be in receipt of Mobility Supplement of War Pension
We may need to ask you to undergo a mobility assessment to establish your level of disability.
Applying for Dial a Ride
To use the Dial a Ride service, you must become a member.
Membership lasts for 12 months and we will contact you when it time to renew your membership.
You can apply for a membership online. This is quick and easy to use. Alternatively you can download a form from the related download section to the right of this page.

Using Dial a Ride
Once you are a member , you will receive a membership card. All you need to do it call Access Anyone who operates this service on our behalf, and tell us where and when you need transport.
The more notice you give us about your journey the less chance there is of being disappointed!

All care dogs welcome and travel free of charge
All the above fares apply to travel anywhere within the Borough of Southend-on-Sea. Special organised Dial-a-Ride outings will be priced separately and advertised in the Dial-a-Ride monthly newsletter.
