Health Matters
A household survey carried out in 2001/2002 estimated that 2.3 million individuals in Great Britain were suffering from an illness that they believed was caused or made worse by their current or past work.
The most common types of illness were musculoskeletal disorders (affecting an estimated 1,126,000 people), stress, depression or anxiety (563,000 people) followed by breathing or lung problems (168,000 people) and hearing problems (87,000).
