In Car Safety - Children's Car Seats
Children's Car Seats
Choosing the right child seat for your car is very important. Every year over 1200 children are killed or seriously injured on the roads of the UK whilst travelling in cars.
In September 2006 the Government passed a law which makes it an offence for children under 12 years of age or 135cms in height to travel in a car without the appropriate restraint.
Southend Borough Council offer a drop in advice service on the first Tuesday of each month (term time only) at:
The Blenheim Children's Centre
Blenheim Chase
Leigh on Sea
SS9 4HX
A trained Road Safety Officer is available at these sessions to give advice, check existing car seats or fit seats that you have bought. Please note that there are no facilities to offer a try before you buy service at these sessions.
The Southend Borough Council telephone number for any car seat enquiries is 01702 215003.
