Before recruiting NQTs to your school, please refer to the DCSF's Guidance on Safer Recruitment that came into effect in January 2007. This accompanying guide is designed to help schools make the necessary checks with appointing NQTs.

Important Update

Please note that the version of the Ten Point Guide that was sent out to schools in April 2008 has been amended. Although the new Regulations appear to make explicit that teachers without the Skills Tests who have been on an ITT course cannot be employed, subsequent information suggests that they can, in fact, be employed as Instructors.
