HLTA Assessment

Preparation

During preparation you will receive 3 days briefing and guidance to ensure you fully understand the HLTA professional standards and how to complete the four assessment tasks. The assessment tasks are based on your every day work with young people. These will be included in a portfolio of work, both recent and current.

Assessment

Assessment involves a half day visit to your school by an assessor, during which you will be assessed on evidence you produce to show the standards have been met. At the end of the school visit the assessor will reach a conclusion as to whether you have met the standards.

Once you have achieved HLTA Status you will receive a letter from the TDA. This acts as proof of HLTA status for current and future employers.

The HLTA Standards

The HLTA Standards set out what an individual should know, understand and be able to do, to be awarded HLTA status. The 'Professional standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistants' can be accessed on the TDA Website which can be found in our Useful Websites.
