Training Bursaries and Golden Hellos
The government announced on 31st January that Golden Hellos are to be abolished. Those entering teacher training in September 2011 via the PGCE will not receive a Golden Hello.
Training Bursaries remain for the following subjects:
Physics - £9,000
Chemistry - £9,000
Engineering - £9,000
Mathematics - £9,000
Biology - £6,000
Combined/General Science - £6,000
Modern Foreign Languages - £6,000
For those already on the PGCE or undertaking Induction following the PGCE, Golden Hello payments will be made as agreed:
Mathematics - £5,000
Science - £5,000
Applied science - £5,000
Information and communications technology (ICT) - £2,500
Applied ICT - £2,500
Design and technology - £2,500
Modern languages - £2,500
Music - £2,500
Religious education £2,500
Any other subjects - £0
