Local Government Election
Local Government elections will take place on Thursday 3rd May 2018. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. A list of polling station will be available on this page shortly.
1 seat in each of our 17 borough wards will be up for election.

Becoming a candidate – nominations will close at 4pm on Friday 6th April 2018.

A briefing session for candidates and agents will take place in the Council Chamber, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, SS2 6LR on Monday 19th March at 6pm.
Registering to vote
In order to register to vote, please go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Alternatively, you can telephone your application through to Southend-on-Sea Electoral Services on 01702 215010, or request that an application form to be sent out.
The deadline for registering to vote for the forthcoming election is Tuesday 17th April 2018.
Voting by Post or Proxy
If you do not wish to attend a polling station on polling day in order to cast your vote, you can apply to vote by post or proxy.
The deadline for a new postal vote or to amend or cancel an existing postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 18th April. This is also the deadline for making changes to or cancelling an existing proxy vote.
