Credit Card payments

Southend Borough Council and South Essex Homes will be adding a 1.5% surcharge to payments made to us by credit card, excluding Parking Fines (penalty charge notices) and Fixed Penalty Notices (ie smoking, litter fines etc). There is no additional charge for using a debit card.  This is effective from Monday 2nd April 2012.

We are applying this surcharge to cover the costs we incur from our bank as a result of customers choosing to pay by credit card rather than choosing to use alternative lower cost payment methods.

When making a payment to us clear information will be provided setting out the additional cost if you chose a credit card as method of payment as opposed to debit card or other means.
