Attention Postal and Proxy Voters!
If you are a postal, proxy, or postal proxy voter, and you have been since January 2007, you will need to confirm your details with us in order to carry on voting in this way. This is because the law states that anyone who has had a postal vote for 5 years or more must provide a current version of their signature.
Therefore, anyone who has had a postal, proxy or postal proxy vote since January 2007 will be sent a signature refresh form for us to legally request their latest signature. You should receive your signature refresh form with an accompanying letter by the end of January 2012.
In order to continue to vote by post, proxy or postal proxy, you must respond to the refresh notice by the date given on your letter.
If you no longer want to vote by post, proxy or postal proxy, you should respond by ticking the relevant box on the form and return it to us as soon as possible in order to avoid any unnecessary reminders being sent out.
If you do not return the signature refresh form by the deadline stated on your letter, you will not be able to vote by post, proxy or postal proxy at future elections and you will have to vote in person at a polling station unless a new application form is completed.
If you have a disability which means that you either cannot provide a signature or sign in a consistent and distinctive way, or are unable to read and write, please contact the Electoral Office using the details on the right-hand side of this page.
