Southend-on-Sea Borough Council

Clear Textile Recycling Sack Scheme

What do I need to do?

Clear Textile Recycling Sack
Residents are provided with a weekly collection on the same day as pink recycling sacks, blue food waste bin and black refuse sacks. If you are not sure when your collection day is, please use the 'Where I Live' facility.

You need to place your sacks at the edge of your property by 7am on your scheduled collection day where they can be seen and are easily accessible from the road. Please ensure they do not block the public highway (pavement or road).

Please see 'What can go in my clear textile recycling sack?' for details of what can be collected.

If you run out of clear textile recycling sacks before your next scheduled delivery, additional sacks can be collected from a number of locations. Please see sack deliveries and getting additional sacks for further information.

What should I do if my sack is stolen?

Textile sacks are collected in the same vehicle as the pink recycling sacks.

If your textile sack is stolen before it' s been collected, please call the Essex Police non-emergency number 101 with details of the incident. Where a vehicle is involved, please note the registration number to provide to the Police.

Alternatively, clothing can be taken to charity shops or deposited into clothing banks - a number are located around the Borough. Please see Mini Recycling Centres for more information.
