Household Waste Recycling Centres

There are two Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) in the borough of Southend-on-Sea.

The term 'Household Waste Recycling Centre' refers to the sites maintained by us which provide recycling facilities for our residents. Such sites used to be referred to as the local 'tip' - but as recycling becomes ever more important these facilities have been renamed to reflect this key priority.

Opening hours and location

Please find details of the current opening hours for both Household Waste Recycling Centres in the tables below;

Stock Road, Southend on Sea, SS2 5QF

Leigh Marshes, Leigh on Sea, SS9 2ET

1st November - 31st January*	Weekdays (closed Wednesday) Weekends	9am - 4pm 8am - 4pm

*Both sites will be open from 9am on Bank Holidays, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day when they will be closed.

Sites are intended for the deposit of large bulky items. Don't forget that a lot of items can be recycled - from your old wooden headboard to your fridge freezer. For further information please see the 'What can be taken to the Recycling Centre' page below.
