Street Lighting and Furniture

Street Furniture - Overview

Street furniture is a collective term for objects and pieces of equipment installed on streets and roads for various purposes, including:

  • seating
  • bollards
  • post boxes
  • phone boxes
  • street lighting
  • traffic lights and signs
  • bus stops
  • litter bins
  • planters, fountains and memorials

An important consideration in the design of street furniture is how it affects road safety.
