The Southend-on-Sea Adizone Project is the first in the country to be granted the Inspire Mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme.

The London 2012 Inspire programme recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Entering the Adizone

Seb Coe, Chair, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said:
"The Southend-on-Sea Adizone Project is encouraging local people to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as Southend-on-Sea Borough Council we are delivering on our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in sport and health related activities."

Adizones, designed and developed by Adidas are permanent installations measuring 625 square metres. They boast sporting facilities inspired by Olympic and Paralympic sports and include basketball, football and tennis area, a climbing wall, an outdoor gym and an open area to encourage dance, aerobics and gymnastics.
