Active Seniors Project

Active Seniors is a project that supports older people to stay or become more active. Through an identified Community Agent, people are supported to attend appropriate sessions within their local community.

Examples of regular sessions include those held at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre (SLTC), Queensway Club 60, Blues Bodycare Fit for Life and the Walking the Way to Health scheme. Please see the Active 50+ Festivals poster in the related downloads section for more information.

Boccia

Boccia

Boccia is a sport similar to bowls, but designed to be played by people with disabilities. The aim of the game is to throw leather balls, coloured red or blue, as close as you can get to a white target ball, known as the jack.

Free Bikeability sessions (cycling proficiency) or on and off road biking. Generally aimed at those aged 8 and above, including adults.

Every Wednesday 6:30 - 7:40pm for those aged 5-14 and those of a mixed ability,

Every Wednesday 7:45 - 9pm for those aged 15 and above and those of an advanced ability at the Chase Sports and Fitness Centre.

Free supervised judo sessions, aimed at those that are blind or partially sighted.

Rush hockey is the new exciting version of hockey. The sport is played in small teams as an informal way of playing hockey.
