"activesouthend" is the local structure for the development of Sport England's Delivery System for Community Sport. Its aim is to develop opportunities for local people to take part in sport and physical activity in Southend-on-Sea

Active Seniors ProjectVarious times and various locations Active Seniors is a project that supports older people to stay or become more active. Through an identified Community Agent, people are supported to attend appropriate sessions within their local community. Examples of regular sessions include those held at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre (SLTC), Queensway Club 60, Blues Bodycare Fit for Life and the Walking the Way to Health scheme. BocciaVarious times and various locations Boccia is a sport similar to bowls, but designed to be played by people with disabilities. The aim of the game is to throw leather balls, coloured red or blue, as close as you can get to a white target ball, known as the jack.
