Extra Help for Young People in Education
If you or if you know someone aged 14-19 in education they might be entitled to receive money and have their transport costs paid whilst they are in education.

If your circumstances do not fit earn money whilst learning the following may help.

If you are under the age of 19 fees are not normally charged for your course.

If you are attending a course of Higher Education (for example, a degree, HND, PGCE course) application forms and information regarding financial support are available from Student Finance England (see Useful Websites)

If you are a 'former relevant child' or a 'qualifying child' you should contact the Awards and Payments Team by emailing studentfinance@southend.gov.uk concerning any additional funding that you may be entitled to for your education.
Student Transport Costs
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council can provide free transport to Student's between 16 and 18 in further education. In some circumstances it can also provide free transport to students over 19 and up to the age of 25.
