The planning and compulsory Purchase Act 2004 has resulted in major changes to the way the planning system operates. It established the Local Development Framework (LDF) approach.
The Local Development Framework and the new system of Local Development Documents (LDDs) will replace the old system of structure plans, local plans and supplementary planning guidance.
A Local Development Framework will comprise a series of documents that have to be prepared including:
- A Local Development Scheme (LDS);
- Local Development Documents of which there are two types:
- Development Plan Documents (DPDs)
- Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs
- A Statement of Community Involvement; and
- Annual Monitoring reports
