Development Management DPD

We have been preparing the Development Management DPD, which will set out the Borough Council's policies for positively managing development in Southend-on-Sea and delivering the vision, objectives and policies of the adopted Core Strategy. It will be used to assess and determine planning applications in association with other adopted Local Development Documents in the LDF.

A consultation on the Development Management Proposed Submission version of the document is taking placed from Friday 18th March 2011 until Friday 29th April 2011 (closing 5pm). The Proposed Submission version of the document takes forward the Development Management Issues and Options document which was published for consultation in June 2010.

This formal consultation stage is part of the preparation for it to be submitted for independent examination. This examination is undertaken on the basis of matters of soundness and legal compliance.

The Development Management DPD Proposed Submission and accompanying documents can be viewed under 'Related Downloads' on the right hand side of this page. They can also be viewed at Southend Borough Council Customer Service Centre between 8.45am and 5.15pm and at all Southend Libraries during normal opening hours.

How to comment

Representations should be made using our online interactive consultation system. Alternatively representations may be submitted using the Response Form by the following means:

• Email to ldf@southend.gov.uk; or
• In writing to the Director of Enterprise, Tourism and the Environment, PO Box 5557, Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 6ZF.

Representations on the DPD must be received no later than 5pm on Friday 29th April 2011. Late representations will not be considered. Please note all formal comments will be made available for public inspection on our website.
