Reaching 60% Recycling & Composting

Loading...Southend is currently recycling and composting around 45% of the total waste produced. However, with a recycling rate target of 60% which needs to be achieved by 2015- which means that 60% of the total waste produced in the whole Borough needs to be either recycled (via the pink and clear sacks, or at the Household Waste Recycling Centres) or composted (using the food waste and garden waste collections and at the Household Waste Recycling Centres)- there is some way to go if the target is to be successfully met in 4 years time.

These pages provide information regarding Southend's long-term Municipal Waste Management Strategy and the Private Finance Initiative Partnership which will also be shaping the future of Waste Management in Southend-on-Sea.
