Try out cheerleading, basketball, skateboarding and much more at a fabulous free Urban Games event in Shoebury Park on Saturday 14th August.
Young people will have the chance to try out a whole range of new activities from 11am till 4pm in and around the adiZone outdoor gym area in the park at Ness Road/Elm Road, Shoebury. There will be urban gym workouts and live music to add to the excitements.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture, Councillor Derek Jarvis, said: "This is an excellent way to introduce young people to some of the exciting fitness opportunities at the adiZone gym in Shoebury.
"We aim for this to become an annual event with free activities to appeal to all young people at the adiZone - a very popular addition to Shoebury Park.
"It is a permanent recreation installation, open all year round, designed and developed by adidas to serve the local community. The adiZone provides facilities inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including, basketball, football, climbing, tennis, an outdoor gym, as well as an area to encourage gymnastics, dance and aerobics.
"The Council successfully secured a grant from the adiZone Rollout Fund towards this structure to encourage people to participate in sport. We hope even more will be prompted to explore it at this forthcoming Urban Games day."
