Dig out your eye patch and polish your cutlass for a swashbuckling Pirate invasion on Southend Pier!
'Pirates on the Pier' is taking place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September, and set to be great fun for all.
It coincides with Adventure Island 's 'Talk Like a Pirate' weekend and the visit of the tall ship Artemis, one of the world's last traditional square-rigged whalers.
The fun and games will run from 11am to 5pm each day and attractions include a face painter and a dashing Jack Sparrow look-a-like for the children to be photographed with.
Everyone is encouraged to get in the spirit and come dressed up as pirates, although parrots are optional!
The event has been organised by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council whose staff will be getting into the pirate spirit by donning fancy dress throughout the weekend.
Ian Robertson, Executive Councillor for Enterprise , Tourism and Regeneration, said: "This sounds like a really fun day out for all the family.
"I would urge people to come down and enjoy the pirate entertainment, especially as there's a great opportunity to see the Artemis as well.
"It would certainly be a spectacle seeing a whole gaggle of pirates swarming the Pier; it will be something straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean !"
