With Christmas just round the corner (yes, really) Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is preparing for this year’s annual Toy Drive.

The Toy Drive aims to ensure all of Southend’s vulnerable children will receive a gift this Christmas.

This, the fourth year of the Toy Drive, aims to break the records set previously by giving more toys than ever before. Since the Toy Drive begun, over 2,000 toys have been donated to local children through local charities and programmes.

The Council are asking for local residents and businesses to help donate new gifts only, which can vary from toys, pens and colouring packs, toiletries and selection packs.

Cllr Andrew Moring, Executive Councillor for Corporate and Community Support, said: “Christmas is fast approaching, and we must remember that there are many children out there who are less fortunate than us, and that is why the Toy Drive is so important to our borough.

“We would love to beat the previous years’ record, so we will appreciate all the support you can give.”

If you would like to donate to the Toy Drive, the Council will be accepting gifts from Wednesday 1 November through till Friday 15 December. You can donate gifts at the reception of the Civic Centre.
