Open Access gives insight into Council services

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and its partners will be hosting the fourth annual Open Access event at the Victoria Shopping Centre between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday 14 November.
The event, which is a joint venture by the Council and Jobcentre Plus, offers residents the opportunity to get an insight into some of the projects, services and schemes.
The event will be officially opened by Deputy Mayor, Councillor Derek Jarvis and Deputy Mayoress, Valerie Jarvis.
As each year has gone by, the Open Access event has grown in stature, bringing more visitors each year, and bringing more stalls to the event to accommodate this rise in visitor numbers.
Some of the many stalls that will be available to visit are:
- Southend Business Improvement District
- Universal Credit
- Southend Council Procurement Team
- Essex Police
- Army Careers
- Southend Adult Community College
- Childminder services
- National Career services
Cllr Ann Holland, Executive Councillor for Culture, Tourism and the Economy, said: “As a Council, we are always looking at ways to help local residents and businesses have a better understanding of what we do, day in, day out.
“There is a lot more to a Council than collecting refuse and council tax, and this popular event gives local people the opportunity to find out more, as well as receiving free advice and tips from some of our teams.”
