Published Wednesday 25th August 10 in Council - news and information releases news

Get ready to have a fun family day out at Priory Park courtesy of Southend-on-sea Borough Council’s Park Wardens!

On bank holiday Monday, 30th August, Priory Park will host a great range of activities from 12 noon until 5pm.

There will be something for everyone, with activities including pond dipping, archery lessons by Chase Bowmen, guided walks of the park describing 900 years of its history, basketball with the Essex Pirates, Northshore Mountain bike track from the Cycle Southend team, Aquabubbles and Bouncy castles.

Most of the activities are free although there will be a charge for the bouncy castles and Aquabubbles.

Red Watch from Southend Fire station will be attending the open day to show the latest in fire fighting equipment and the Ambulance Service will be on hand with a range of CPR dummies for you to brush up on your skills.

If after all of this you need to chill out, then head for the bandstand at 3pm for two hours of music totally fitting for a Bank Holiday afternoon from guitar duo Dave Crawford and Kevin Butler.

To add a touch of glamour legendary Southend rocker Terry Fane will be on the mike from 12 noon to keep everyone informed and on track, and he won't be taking any prisoners.

Southend-on-sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "This sounds like a wonderful day out over the Bank Holiday, and gives plenty of activities to choose from if you are wondering what to do..

"It's going to be a great opportunity to try something new so why not bring a picnic and come along to enjoy one of Southend's most beautiful parks."
