Published Thursday, 29th March 2018
Coach drivers bringing groups to the seaside now have the opportunity to park in Southend-on-Sea all day for free.
The parking initiative gives coach drivers free parking at one of 15 spaces available at the town’s Arriva depot from Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 18.00, or at 25 spaces allocated at the Gasworks site on Saturday and Sundays from 09.00 to 20.00. The free parking opportunities are in effect from this weekend.
Between 10.30 and 11.30am the Council’s resort team will be available outside the Pier entrance on Marine Parade to provide coach visitors with a welcome to Southend-on-Sea, and advise on what exhibitions, events and attractions can be enjoyed.
Bookings must be made in advance by calling the Visitor Information Centre on 01702 215620 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
Scott Dolling, Director of Culture, Tourism and Property, said: “We have so much to offer in Southend-on-Sea all year round with thousands of visitors flocking to the seafront for some great seaside fun.
“We are constantly looking at ways to encourage groups of visitors to the town to visit all the attractions and wider offer including historic venues such as Prittlewell Priory, to the contemporary art gallery at Focal Point. By introducing this free coach parking initiative, we are looking to build solid relationships with coach companies looking to bring visitors for a great excursion.”
Southend-on-Sea’s famous and award winning seaside stretches seven miles. The town is home to the world’s longest pleasure pier, traditional seaside attractions, galleries, museums and five Green Flag parks offering visitors the plenty of options whatever the weather.
