Cycle Southend keeps people in the saddle
Published Friday 3rd September 10 in Council - news and information releases news
The summer has seen people dusting off their bikes to enjoy leisurely rides in the sun thanks to Cycle Southend’s ‘Back in the Saddle’ rides.
Now summers over do not fear. These cycle rides are not stopping, with September jam packed full of evening rides as 'Back in the Saddle' continues.
All rides begin at 7pm and last for two hours, with the next one on 7th September starting from Uncle Tom's Cabin, Shoebury Common Road.
As well as evening rides, 'Back in the Saddle' will also host a 'cup of tea in Canewdon' event on Sunday 3rd October, as well as a fun Tweed fancy dress ride on Friday 15th October, leaving from Southend Pier.
So if you're a bit wobbly on your wheels or you're just looking for a bit of fun then these rides are for you. All activities are free and open to everyone of all abilities.
Councillor Mark Flewitt, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Transport and Planning, said: "These rides are a great way of getting you more road confident, showing you parts of Southend you've never seen, whilst at the same time doing something active and healthy.
"It's free, so there is nothing stopping you from rounding up all your friends and family and giving it a go. But don't forget to remember your bike lights as the night draws in!"
Cycle Southend is always looking for new route ideas and local guides to lead the way, if you're interested please contact us.
