Don’t miss the chance to discuss the new Southend Museum plans directly with the architects who are designing it.

Residents and visitors can book appointments until the end of this month, to delve into the details of the spectacular proposals.

For three days each week up until Thursday 30th September, the Architects AEW will be installed in a shop unit on Southend seafront opposite the entrance of the Pier with plans and artists impressions on display.

Staff from the company will be on hand to explain the proposals and hear your views.

Southend -on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture, Councillor Derek Jarvis says: "We are delighted by the amount of interest and enthusiasm being shown for the proposals for our new museum on the Cliffs. The consultation has prompted very positive reactions from a wide variety of people and there has been an overwhelming amount of support for the innovative design.

"Responses from members of the public have already influenced the development of the plans. For instance, there is a lot of support for formal planted areas on the Cliffs Gardens, so we will be looking very closely at these.

"Many people have also welcomed the prospect that the museum, built into the Cliffs, would not affect the panoramic estuary views from the Cliff Town area of Southend.

"This consultation is an excellent opportunity to explore the plans and share your views with the architects face to face. Anyone who would like to do so, is urged to book an appointment by contacting the architects, AEW on 0161 214 4370.

"Later this year, a detailed planning application for the new Museum is due to be formally submitted to the Council. This will then be considered by the Council's Development Control Committee."
